Defining the Relationship Between Plasma Glucose and HbA1c can aid you in your control plans. When your plasma glucose reading are far from those calculated from you A1C a serious problem may exist and your doctor should be seen immediatly.

HbA1c lab test conversion to eAG or MPG can help you in several ways:

  • Confirm self-testing results or blood test results by the doctor
  • Judge whether a treatment plan is working
  • Show you how healthy choices can make a difference in diabetes control.

After you receive your lab blood test results stating your A1C you can use this form to determine what that is in relationship to the average glucose reading you see on your blood glucose meter. Always consult your medical team before making any changes based on any test result as different labs can test differently and give vary different results. Using the MPG and HbA1c in 1,439 patients has produced a relationship of mean plasma glucose (MPG) as follows:

  • average mmol/l = (1.593 x HbA1c) - 2.58 or
  • average mg/dl = (28.68 x HbA1c) - 46.43
  • mean mmol/l = (1.98 x HbA1c) - 4.29 or
  • mean mg/dl = (35.60 x HbA1c) - 77.30
If you prefer not to do the math enter your HbA1c below.
Enter the HbA1c Number:

Our calculations are based on the data provided in "Diabetes Care" 25:275-278, 2002 "Diabetes Forcast" August 2008 and Crossfire Engineering only assumes no responsible our calculations. The results provided by this program are primarily for program demonstration but if you see a big difference in these calculations and your daily readings it might be very important to check your meter functionality with your health provider. Crossfire Engineering CANNOT cannot guarantee the accuracy of the data provided by "Diabetes Care""Diabetes Forcast"". Be sure to check with your health care provider for any medical advice. Our derived equation from the data presented in "Diabetes Forcast" August 2008 is a correct linear presentation of their data.

Always consult your medical team before making any changes based on any test result as different labs can test differently and give vary different results. Using the MPG and HbA1c in 1,439 patients has produced a relationship of mean plasma glucose (MPG) as follows:
