An Adult Arcade is any place where the games cost more than a kid (and sometimes the Adults) can afford. The kids must have adult supervision at all times. The gun noise, smoke and contrived excuses are always free.
There are real expert marksmen all over that will help you just for asking. And after spending a lot of time observing the people there I can tell you most of the people there can use some good training help. The majority of people use the 100 yard ranges as it is the the common distance to sight in your rifle but some will sight in at 200 meters or more. My arcade has a many different ranges. Like any big city arcade you can choose the game you want to play. I like the 500 meter arcade gamer with my 308. You can see that you hit the gong as it moves and most people can hear the gong. But then I found the 1000 yard arcade game. You cannot see where you hit the target so there is an necessity for a shooter to stay in the target pit to mark the targets for the other shooters and cover the holes for the next round of fire. The pit is concrete and deep to avoid the bullets no matter where the shooters misses. The line of fire is about 8 or 10 feet over your head. The worst damage you can get in the pit is if someone hits low and sand flies into the pit. Never look up during a firing session most there could use some help getting on the target. My Adult Arcade is at the Tucson Rifle Club on the Ajo Highway about a mile or two past the Boarder Patrol Station heading away from the city of Tucson to outer Tucson just pass Three Points. There are two many arcades to write about here but I will talk about the ones I use the most.
The cost of this arcade is $100 per year for the whole family to get in. What you use is where the real cost comes in. If you have good eyes you might get A good M1 Garand from the CMP for just a few hundred dollars and it will shoot at any of the ranges very well. Military Ammunition is not available any more and most store bought stuff is not made for the grand and will ruin It in a very short time. Black Hills Arsenal sells some 30-06 ammo designed and made just for the Garand that will through out a 168 grain match bullet at 2930 fps but I do not like the recoil so I make my own for the Garand which give the military 2600fps the sights are made to track. Any rifle will do at the 1000 yard range but the less power the rifle has the more drop it has and the more talent it takes to hit the target. I use a 338 Lapua Magnum which puts out a 250 grain match bullet at 2950fps But all that is needed is a target and a place to put it where you can see all around it and there is a sufficient berm behind it to make sure no bullets stray or otherwise get past it, through it or around it. There are usually state and county ranges with NRA Range Masters making safety a first priority for you than those around you. I like the 1000 meter range but it takes two people to operate it as besides the shooter you have to have someone in the pits to lower the targets and mark the place you hit. Another reason for at least two: it is unsafe to be so far from everyone else out there for multiple reasons. The arcade games at three-point are
The true arcade for me is the 1000 yards where you have to know where the target will be when the bullet gets there with the distance the earth travels from the time the firearm goes bang is so knowing your latitude you can figure out the diameter of the earth. The diameter is 360 * (111.41288 * cos(latitude) - 0.09350 * cos(3 * latitude) + 0.00012 * cos(5 * latitude)) KM.The earth rotates at once every 23hours 56 minutes and 4.091 seconds no matter where upon earth you stand. but the speed is dependent on the distance traveled as well as the time so we must know and most cell phones have GPS and will tell you where you are speed is the distance the earth travel divided by the time it takes. 40,075 km / 23 hrs 56 min 4.0909 seconds = 1,674 km/hr (1,040 mi/hr) Yes - this is faster than the speed of sound! which is called Mach 1 and is 1,192 km/hr (740 mi/hr). (It's a good thing our atmosphere rotates with us!)
